things my son wants to eat

1. Whatever mommy is eating: Like, literally, no no no mama I want that take it out of your mouth and give it to me oh here let me help you I will just take it out myself.

2. Whatever mommy is eating, but placed directly into his hand or on his tray or in his own bowl or on his spoon. Please do NOT get the desired placement incorrect.

3. Floor food: Snacks that were previously rejected from the lofty position of the high chair but now seem appetizing again on the floor. It's all about perspective, apparently.

4. Electronics

5. Books

6. Whatever daddy is eating

7. Breastmilk

8. Baby approved snacks, one flavor at a time in order of preference: All the yogurt drops, then all the goldfish, then all the peaches, etc. Depending on level of hunger, less desired items may be dropped/flung to the floor. (For later reconsideration, if I am not fast enough, as mentioned above.)

9. Imported European baby formula that takes 2-5 weeks to get here and so sometimes has to be supplemented with domestic formula that makes him wonder if we really love him at all and what kind of life is this?

10. Lovingly crafted organic fruit and vegetable purees

things you never knew you could be excited about

- Two hours of sleep... in a row!
- Extremely audible burps, farts, and poops!
- Breast milk stash stacking up in the freezer!
- Spit-up going between my boobs instead of anywhere on my shirt!

Life is very different now.

tres chic

I got an award! For being stylish! Ooh la la.

I was chosen for this award by Jessica of Too Beautiful for Earth. Thanks, Jess! (You should all go see her, by the way. She's so very nice.)

----------

Now, as per my instructions, here are some random things about me:

1. This is secret, ok? Well it won't be anymore, I guess, but whatever. When anyone near me sneezes, I say "bisou!" intead of "bless you" and then giggle to myself, because I just exclaimed 'kiss' in French, and they say "thank you" because they have no idea that I am a nerd and get a silly kick out of homophones. And for some reason I just think that's a great little inside joke -- every time.

2. I rearrange my furniture about every three months. Except I've been in my current room for only 7 months, and I'm on my third arrangement already. This way is my favorite so far. Maybe I'll show you some photos... Do you want to see photos? (Leave a comment, please.)

3. When I was growing up, we never had nice linens, so ever since I've been on my own that is one thing that's really important to me. I love pretty sheets and towels and blankets! I have to be careful not go overboard when I'm shopping for them.

4. Speaking of shopping... Omg. I love shopping. Shopping is my favourite.

5. Spelling words with an unnecessary 'u' is also my favourite.
(Harbour! Colour! Catalogue! FAVOURITE!)

6. I like most veggies, but I hate green beans -- because they are gross!!
Ugh, green beans... *shudder*

7. Since I began working at age 15, I have been: a childcare worker, a fitting room attendant, a nanny, a sales associate, an archives assistant, a preschool teacher, an office manager, a housecleaner (homes), a housekeeper (hotel), a newspaper delivery person, an administrative assistant, a childcare supervisor, a professional photographer, a museum rep, an office administrator, a personal assistant, and a customer service supervisor. Also possibly maybe a few other things I can't remember right now. And sometimes I did two or more of those things at the same time. (Whew! Not sure how I managed that, actually, but I know that I did.)

----------

So, those were my seven random facts about me, and now I would like to pay it forward by highlighting a few of the 'Stylish' ladies recently added to my blogroll. They rock! THXTHXTHX, Smile and Wave, Enjoying the Small Things, Made by Rae, One Charming Party, and -- last but not least -- A Field Journal

a few things

My thoughts are a bit disconnected this morning, tired and rebellious and refusing to be put down in prose; so I present them to you instead in list form. That'll show 'em.

1. Only four days left to enter my giveaway. You could win a free book.
2. Consider submitting an entry to Creme de la Creme; it's for everyone in the ALI (Adoption/Loss/Infertility) community. Even if you don't think your writing is very good, do it anyway. It could really help someone else out there to not feel so alone.
3. Your comments mean the world to me, no matter how brief. Don't be shy.
4. Tell me, if you would, about a holiday tradition that you started yourself. I am curious. Also, I might want to copy you.
5. I have a calendar page on my desk and I am marking down the days until I leave for my trip to Australia. Can't wait!! I am doing a Jillian Michaels workout 4-5 days a week until then, so that I won't be too self-conscious at the beach. Kicking. My. Butt.

So. I guess those are the main things I wanted to tell you. Oh and also, for the record: I hate Black Friday. I have to go to work soon, and I am dreading it. I will be there for at least 9-10 hours, ringing up cranky customers and then trying to put the store back together again after they are all gone. It's going to be awful. I plan to get through it 2 hours at a time. Wish me luck.
