brash & brazen

Sometimes I just want to walk in there and kiss him, right in front of everybody. No nervous small talk, no half-promises, no guessing games. Just to see what it would be like; a hello and a goodbye at the same time.

Sometimes I wish I didn't worry so much about what happens afterward. After the bold gesture; after the dramatic moment.

It holds me back from trying so very many exciting things.

twenty-three

Day 23 - a youtube video that makes you laugh

I go on YouTube primarily for laughs, and I have several old faves to share with you today.

The Flying Hamster. "It's up to you now, Woody." *fling*
I always watch this one with my Sophie-girl. So it makes me smile, just like almost everything else about her.

Beached Whale. "That's deceptive."
This one may qualify as an inside joke. I don't know if it will be funny to you if you've never been to New Zealand or Australia... But it's worth a shot.

Charlie the Unicorn. "It's a MAGICAL leopluradon!"
Oh, Charlie. YouTube doesn't get any more quotable than this. It is incredibly annoying, and yet... I can't help loving it. Reminds me of my youth leader days, and the awesome kids in my small group, who first insisted that I watch it.

Powerthirst. "Made with lightning--REAL LIGHTNING!"
Warning: possibly offensive. But freakin hilarious.

The End of Ze World. "WTF, mate?"
Ruling out the icecaps melting, meteors becoming crashed into us, the ozone leaving, and the sun exploding -- we're definitely going to blow ourselves up. (This one reminds me of Laura, because she laughed the longest.)

Glee: Single Ladies. Touchdown.
Definitely one of my favorite Glee moments.

tongue in cheek

A little lighthearted musical social commentary. Brilliant. I like.

tiny good things

One can live quietly and try to do tiny good things and harm no one. I cannot think of any tiny good thing to do at the moment, but perhaps I shall think of one tomorrow.

well, if you insist

There is a rather large slice of chocolate cake in the fridge that has been calling my name incessently for the last half-hour. I should ignore it, and brush my teeth, and go to sleep.

But I am thinking I would rather eat chocolate cake.

PS: Happy Birthday, baby sister. I hope this year is your best yet.
(It kind of can't help but be, can it?) Cheers -- V

a thank you note

Dear M&Ms,
Thanks for coming in a rainbow of colors -- AND being made of chocolate. Bonus! You made my night a little brighter.

Love, Vera

too many wishes

If wishes were fishes... I'd go into anaphylactic shock.

Oh my goodness, I crack myself up! Or maybe I am just
tired, and that is not actually funny at all? I can't be sure.
I have been sleeping so poorly lately.

another time, perhaps

Today I went looking for work downtown, but every place I asked at just laughed, or sneered, or both. Only one guy was nice to me. Everyone else was really rude. Later my cousin A gave me a good comeback though: I should have said, "Maybe if you didn't suck, and had a good store that people wanted to shop at, you could afford to hire some help!" (So there, rude strangers!)

However, all I actually did at the time was cry a little, and then walk to my auntie's house for a swim.

*le sigh*

dinner conversation

"If I had a horse, I would call it... Taxi. Then I would go to the field and yell, 'TAXI! HERE, TAXI!!' And I would ride it, 'cause, you know, you ride a taxi." --Cissa

quote of the day

"It's like... cheerful ants running around on rainbows.
That's how weird it is." --Caleb

Ciss: "I can't finish my envelope, mom."
Jill: "Your what? What are these called?"
Ciss (bewildered by our laughter): "Envelopes?!"
